Great parking and easy access off the highway. Wonderful place for a walk, run or bike.
There is a large limestone deposit located under Klondike park.
Big parking lot with access to the Katy trail and the MO river. I have used this spot to put in my kayak and float down to Frontier Park. I have also put out of the river here, when paddling down from the Weldon Springs access point. I park my car in the parking lot and carry my kayak & gear down the trail, just under the bridge. It's tricky to walk under the bridge out of the trail area to reach the water, I advise extreme caution. The current under the bridge might not seem bad but it is actually worse than bad. Always. You must be an experienced paddler to float the MO river.
I love the Katy trail.
From someone who doesn't ride bikes as regularly as others. The trail is perfect for those who want a straight ride. While the hill looks to the trail looks scary it is not bad if you are in the right gear!
Nice little walks you can do with a road type road you can walk on next to a highway bridge, but its safe. There's always someone jogging or bicycling. Its pretty peaceful.
The Katy is a recreational rail trail that runs 240 miles (390 km) in the right-of-way of the former Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad.[1] Running largely along the northern bank of the Missouri River, it is the country's longest Rails-to-Trails trail.[2] The trail is open for use by hikers, joggers, and cyclists year-round, from sunrise to sunset. Its hard, flat surface is of "limestone pug" (crushed limestone).
